Points to note: - The death notice provides only basic information. From it we could obtain a surname and first christian name, plus a publication date (the only date available). The nickname is ignored, because it is a family-style name.
- The funeral notice is quite clearly for the same person, using the names as reference points. So we can merge the two notices into a single entry.
- The funeral notice then supplies the second christian name, the nickname (in a non-family style), and a funeral date (which we use in preference to the publication date.)
- The "Date Type" field has been set to "Funeral" to indicate the date is the funeral date, even though the "Notice Type" has been set to "Death Notice" to indicate the type of notice being indexed. (In this case, either "Death Notice" or "Funeral Notice" would be an acceptable notice type, because each have contributed to the index entry. It is reasonable to expect any competent researcher would find both, given a reference to one of them.)
- We do NOT index the details relating to where either the funeral or burial will take place.
