LOOKUPS for MEMBERS

  
Members of Ryerson Index Inc are entitled to request lookups for most notices included in the index. This includes notices which are not available to the general public because we don't have scans.

In the first instance, you should request a lookup in the normal way, via the request page.

Should you be advised that no-one is available to carry out this lookup, then you can email Therese Delanty for a "members only" lookup.

Everyone with access to this request page is either an indexer or someone providing lookups. Many are both. Consequently, you all know how much effort is involved in carrying out these lookups. That is why lookups operate on an honour system - it is up to you not to abuse the system.

When emailing a request for a lookup to Therese, please supply the following items of information:

  1. a subject line in a standard format, to make it easier for Therese to direct emails automatically, if necessary. The format of the subject line should be "RYERSON LOOKUP - NEWSPAPER YEAR", with the appropriate values inserted for NEWSPAPER and YEAR.

    and in the body of the email:

  2. the publication date.
  3. the name of the deceased, surname first.
  4. the type of notice.
