Creighton's Funeral Records 1909-1989

We have been given a copy of an index to the Funeral Registers of R H Creighton, covering the period 1909-1989. The index was originally compiled by the Central Coast Family History Society Inc., to whom we are grateful for allowing the data to be incorporated into Ryerson.

The complete data has now been incorporated into Ryerson.

Each record contains the surname, first given name, initials of any other given names, and the date of death.

Because the index is a secondary source, we have decided to verify each entry against the NSW BDM Index, and add any given names beyond the first where the match is unambiguous. Our reasoning is that the Funeral Director normally advises the BDM registry of the death details, and so must have provided the given names shown on the Registry entry. The verification also allows us to pick up and correct the occasional typo in the name fields.

We have not changed any of the data supplied to us. Where there is a discrepancy between the data and the BDM registration, we have commented on the fact. The reasoning here is that, as anyone who regularly uses the BDM Index knows, there are typos present. When we have a discrepancy between the two data sources, we have no way of knowing which is correct.

Some records are clearly missing, eg 1925-26 and 1932-33 in their entirety, plus some individual months prior to WWII.
